You and your friend want to join one of ecological organizations. Discuss with him/her which one is the best to join. Consider the following options:
- a) the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF);
- b) Greenpeace;
- c) Kids for a Clean Environment;
- d) a local organization, whose aim is to make the local environment cleaner and healthier.
You begin the conversation and have to decide which option (only one) to choose. Remember to:
- discuss all the options;
- take an active part in the discussion and be polite;
- come up with ideas;
- give good reasons;
- find out your friend’s opinion and take it into account;
- come to an agreement.
A: We need to choose one ecological organization to join. What do you think about the World Wide Fund for Nature?
B: It’s a very famous organization, and it helps protect endangered animals and nature all over the world.
A: Yes, that’s true. Greenpeace is also well known. It works hard to protect the environment and stop pollution.
B: I agree. But Kids for a Clean Environment seems more suitable for young people. It teaches children how to care for nature.
A: That’s a good point. Still, I think a local organization would be the best choice for us.
B: Why do you think so?
A: Because we can help our own town or city directly. It’s easier to see the results of our work, and we can take part in real projects nearby.
B: I agree. A local organization can make the environment cleaner and healthier where we live.
A: So, shall we join the local organization?
B: Yes, let’s do that.
