Задача
  1. Task 1 (3 minutes)

    1 RNE Imagine that you are preparing a project with your friend. You have found some interesting material for the presentation and you want to read this text to your friend. You have 1.5 minutes to read the text silently; then be ready to read it aloud. You will not have more than 1.5 minutes to read it.

    Choosing the right holiday for all the family can be difficult. The father wants to relax. The mother wants to go sightseeing. The brother likes anything to do with sport and the sister loves music. Their grandparents are also coming this year, and they need to be close to a doctor, just in case. This is why many families choose to go to a resort. Places like this have something for everyone. Dad can sit on the beach and read his paper, while Mum visits the local museum. The boy can try canoeing or some other watersport while the girl goes to the disco. Grandma and Grandpa have the best medical care at hand, and have no need to be anxious. Of course, resort holidays are not always the most adventurous of holidays, and they may not be everyone’s number one choice. But for a family of various tastes and needs, the resort can do the job where a camping holiday, for example, simply would not.

  2. 2

    a) Listen to two students reading the text. Who gave a better reading?

    b) Listen to the weaker student again. Copy the table and evaluate his/her performance. Tick one box for each item.

    You are considering visiting the city and now you’d like to get more information. In 1.5 minutes, you are to ask five direct questions to find out the following:

    1. dates of departure;

    5. discounts.

    You have 20 seconds to ask each question.

    • making grammatical mistakes;
    • using the wrong intonation;
    • asking an irrelevant question.
  5. 5 Listen to someone comparing a road trip to a cruise and explaining why he prefers one to the other. What reasons does he give?
  6. 6 Listen to someone explaining why young people prefer different types of holidays to those which older people choose. Which word(s) do they use to:

  7. 7 Read the following answer to the question in Ex. 6 and make it longer. Use appropriate words to express opinions and give reasons or examples.
