A Your teacher has asked you to write a story for an International magazine. The story must start with the following words: I had never been so surprised in my whole life.
Write your story (120-180 words).
B You have decided to enter a short story competition. The competition rules say that the story must be entitled: A Special Birthday Present Write your story (120-180 words).

Sample story A
I had never been so surprised in my whole life. It was my birthday, and I thought it would be just another ordinary day. My parents had said they were too busy to celebrate, so I went to school feeling a little disappointed.
When I came home, the lights were off. I opened the door quietly and suddenly everyone shouted, “Surprise!” My friends, my grandparents and even my uncle were there. The table was covered with my favourite food, and in the middle of the room stood a huge box with my name on it.
I opened it slowly and found a beautiful guitar inside. I had wanted one for years, but I never expected to get it. I was so happy that I almost cried. That evening was full of laughter, music and joy, and I will never forget it.

A Special Birthday Present
My birthday was coming, and I was hoping for something unusual, but I had no idea what it could be. In the morning, my parents gave me a small box wrapped in silver paper. I opened it carefully and found a key inside.
“Go to the garden,” my father said with a smile. I ran outside and saw a brand-new bicycle waiting for me near the gate. It was bright red, with a shiny bell and a basket on the front.
I could hardly believe my eyes. My parents knew I had been dreaming about a bike for months. I hugged them tightly and thanked them again and again. It was the best birthday present I had ever received, and I spent the whole day riding around the neighbourhood with my friends.
