Dear Jane,

I am writing to tell you about a difficult situation I am in. I am doing a very intensive exam course, so I really need to concentrate on my studies, but I am not happy with my progress.

The problem is that my host family are very noisy people. They have blazing rows almost every night. When they argue, they slam doors all over the house and shout at each other. Their teenage son plays music very loudly and very late at night. Also, the daughter’s friends come on motorbikes and keep them roaring under the windows.

I feel miserable and I would be very grateful if something could be done about it.
