Is listening to pop music bad taste?
If a person prefers pop music, it speaks of their bad taste. Unlike classical or folk music, pop songs don’t make people think and don’t evoke any strong feelings. The lyrics are silly and impersonal and are aimed at teenagers. When I hear pop songs, it makes me think of hamburgers or hot dogs. Listening to junk music is like eating junk food — easy to consume, but good for nothing: neither for the brains nor for the body.
If a person listens to pop music, it doesn’t mean that he or she has bad taste. It’s true that pop music doesn’t stimulate mental activity, but it’s not intended to! Pop songs are good to make people feel relaxed, and enjoy life. Yes, you can experience strong feelings when listening to an exquisite classical symphony, but you can never dance to that music! I enjoy pop music and will go on listening to it, whether you like it or not.

I think pop music is not bad taste. It may be simple, but it is enjoyable and helps people relax. Pop songs are usually easy to understand and remember, and they often make people feel cheerful. Of course, classical music can be more serious and deep, but pop music is good for dancing and having fun. So, in my opinion, liking pop music does not mean having bad taste.
