1. In Russia, a person’s accent can sometimes be seen as a symbol of social status, especially in big cities. In the past, it was probably even more important, because educated speech was considered a sign of a good upbringing.

2. Yes, there are some common mistakes in Russian, for example wrong stress, mixing up cases, or using words incorrectly. These mistakes do not usually change my opinion of a person, because everyone can make them.

3. The accent of Muscovites is often associated with standard urban speech, Ukrainians’ accent with softness and melody, Georgians’ accent with a strong and expressive way of speaking, and Northerners’ accent with a more “hard” and clear pronunciation.

4. I partly agree. Many Russians make mistakes in speech, but that does not mean they do not speak Russian well. It depends on education, reading habits, and how carefully a person speaks.
