Friendship At the moment I am thinking about what a real friendship is. There is a very good proverb: «A friend in need is a friend indeed». This proverb expresses my idea of friendship absolutely. I think that a real friend never lets you down and you can always rely on him. Some of my classmates say that they don’t need any friends, but I don’t believe them. As a rule, people need friends and expect help and comfort from each other. Very often I see that my classmates have «fair weather» friends and usually they let them down in a difficult situation. And I think disappointment is the price they pay for their blindness. There is another good English proverb: «A hedge between keeps friendship green». I fully agree with this proverb. True friends know when you want to stay alone. They don’t have to spend all their free time with you since they have their own interests and hobbies. But there are some things true friends should agree upon. These are such things as attitude to life and people, ability to forgive, to sympathize and most of all to listen and to understand. Everyone dreams to have a true and faithful friend but not all of us are lucky enough to find one, since real affection, warmth of heart and ability to sacrifice is something that requires tolerance and love and can be neither bought nor sold.

Очень часто я вижу, что у моих одноклассников есть друзья «на хорошую погоду», и обычно они подводят их в трудной ситуации. И я думаю, что разочарование — это цена, которую они платят за свою слепоту. Есть ещё одна хорошая английская пословица: «Частые встречи дружбу не укрепляют». Я полностью согласен с этой пословицей. Настоящие друзья знают, когда тебе хочется побыть одному. Им не обязательно проводить всё свободное время с тобой, так как у них есть свои интересы и увлечения. Но есть некоторые вещи, в которых настоящие друзья должны быть согласны. Это такие вещи, как отношение к жизни и людям, умение прощать, сочувствовать и, самое главное, слушать и понимать. Каждый мечтает иметь настоящего и верного друга, но не всем нам везёт найти такого, поскольку настоящая привязанность, душевное тепло и способность к самопожертвованию — это то, что требует терпимости и любви и не может быть ни куплено, ни продано.
