One possible story from David’s point of view:

I was very nervous when I went to the lake that day. Daniel had told me to come, and I thought we were going to talk about the strange letter signed “D”. I expected to see Daniel there, but instead I saw Charlie too. That surprised me, because I did not know he was involved.

When I arrived, Daniel looked worried. He said he had not written the letter. Then Charlie admitted that the letter was really from him. He had signed it “D” because he wanted to hide the truth and make us think Daniel had sent it. Charlie had seen us arguing and decided to interfere.

At first I was angry, but then I understood that everything had been a misunderstanding. We all talked for a long time and finally told each other the truth. In the end, the lake was not the place of a secret meeting after all — it was the place where the truth came out.
