1. In Paragraph 1:
- an opinion — the expression that gives the writer’s view;
- an opposing argument — the expression that introduces the opposite point of view;
- a problem — the expression that presents the difficulty.
2. In Paragraph 2:
- the topic statement — the first general sentence;
- the illustrating statement — the sentence with an example or explanation. It is more specific and supports the topic statement.
3. The idea in Paragraph 3 is opposed to the idea in Paragraph 4 by contrast: Paragraph 3 presents one view, while Paragraph 4 gives the opposite view.
