- a) I think the most ridiculous rule is the ban on visiting ice-cream cafés in the city centre. It is silly and rather unfair to forbid teachers to eat ice cream or go to a café. Teachers are ordinary people who should have the right to spend their free time as they wish. There is nothing dangerous or inappropriate about sitting in a café, listening to music and eating ice cream.
- b) Yes, there are some similar rules at my school. For example, teachers are not supposed to wear very bright clothes or very short dresses.
- c) These are some of the rules about students’ appearance and clothes:
- All students must wear dark blue and white clothes, such as blouses, long skirts, classic trousers and waistcoats.
- Students are not allowed to wear short skirts, shorts, jeans, tops or other informal clothes at school.
- Students must not wear bright make-up, paint their nails bright colours, dye their hair or wear high heels.
- Tattoos and piercings are also forbidden at school.
- Students should always wear clean and neat clothes and look tidy.
- d) Yes, I think this dress code is reasonably fair because it prevents social inequality and helps students concentrate on their studies. It also creates a proper atmosphere at school.
- e) Yes, I think teachers should follow a dress code at school, just like students do. They should be role models for students, including in their appearance and the clothes they wear. However, the rules for teachers should be comfortable and appropriate for their work.
