The bee has been used by people since the end of the Neolithic Period. At first, people used bees for honey and wax. Honey was the main sweetener, and wax was used for candles. Bees were also used in fighting against enemy troops: hives were thrown at them. About 200 years ago, honey stopped being the only sweetener. Now bees are mainly used for honey and wax production.
