One festival that is very popular in my region is Maslenitsa. It is celebrated at the end of winter and lasts for a week. People say goodbye to winter and welcome spring.

During the festival, families and friends meet together, cook pancakes, visit each other and take part in different games and folk entertainments. In many places there are concerts, fairs and traditional dances. Children and adults enjoy sledging, singing and dancing.

The most important symbol of Maslenitsa is a pancake, which is round and golden like the sun. On the last day of the festival, people often burn a straw figure of winter to show that cold days are over.

I like this festival because it is bright, cheerful and full of traditions. It brings people together and creates a happy atmosphere.
