Student A: You are in an electronics store. You want to buy a gift for a friend. You don’t want to spend more than about 30 pounds. Ask the sales assistant for suggestions. Reply to each suggestion. Choose what you will buy.
Student B: You are a sales assistant in an electronics store. A customer wants your advice about a suitable gift. Make suggestions about some or all of the products shown below.

Student A: Could you suggest something for a friend? I don’t want to spend more than 30 pounds.
Student B: Sure. What about a pair of headphones?
Student A: That’s a good idea, but they might be too expensive.
Student B: Then maybe a portable speaker or a book?
Student A: A book sounds good, but I think I’d like something more special.
Student B: How about a mug, a notebook, or a small gadget?
Student A: I think I’ll buy the notebook and a nice pen.

Student B: What about a small speaker? It’s useful and quite popular.
Student A: That’s a good idea, but I think it may be too expensive.

Student B: Great. I think that’s a suitable gift.
