Do you want to be a critic? Choose and do one of the projects.
PROJECT “Rating System in Russia”
- Explain why we need a rating system.
- Decide how many categories there will be in your system.
- What are the main features of the categories?
- What are the signs of your categories?
- Choose some films you’ve watched lately. Decide which categories they match according to your rating system.
- Explain your rating system to your classmates.
- Be ready to answer their questions.
PROJECT “A Theatre Critic”
- Choose any performance you’ve seen lately.
- Decide what you can tell your readers to encourage them to watch the performance.
- Be honest if there is anything you don’t like about the play (the ballet, etc.). Choose your words carefully and check that you have included something on:
- the story;
- the setting;
- the main characters;
- the actors;
- the director;
- the music;
- the dancing.
- Be enthusiastic!
PROJECT “Making a Remake”
- Choose an old film you’d like to remake.
- Choose a director. Explain why he/she is a perfect person to be a director.
- Decide what actors you need. Hold auditions (проведите пробы).
- Describe and prepare costumes.
- Write a script.
- Act out a scene from the film.
- Make an advertisement.
- Discuss all the projects and choose the best one.
For this task, I would choose the project “A Theatre Critic”.
It is interesting because you can talk about a real performance, share your opinion, and describe the story, the actors, the music, and the setting. This project is also useful because it teaches you how to write a short review and express your thoughts clearly.
The project “Making a Remake” is also creative, but it needs more work: you have to choose a film, find actors, write a script, prepare costumes, and make an advertisement. It is more difficult and time-consuming.
The project “Rating System in Russia” is useful, but it is less exciting for most students because it is more about analysis and classification than creativity.
So, the best project is “A Theatre Critic”.
