1. Vocabulary. What kind of entertainment do these teens prefer? Read their opinions and find out the meaning of the highlighted words on p. 212.

I do love cinema. I prefer to watch new films on a big screen. Different film studios in different countries shoot an enormous number of films to suit different tastes: action films, comedies, thrillers, etc. I think that watching films is not only an entertainment but also a highly intellectual process. You can learn a lot while watching a film. Films made in different countries can tell you a lot about the history, everyday life of people in that country and, of course, you can enjoy the plot.

I’m naturally curious. I like to learn. Museums offer an opportunity to experience what I read or hear about. I also like sharing that experience with my friends and family. I love talking about what I see. Art museums are so much fun for me. I can stare at paintings for hours, no matter how simple, abstract or complex they are, and just lose myself to my thoughts, feelings and ideas. How magnificent Picasso’s paintings are! Museums, along with libraries, are some ways to expand your knowledge and “see” the wonders that have made this planet so inspiring.

Music is my passion. When I am in a joyful mood I turn to music. When I am feeling down and want to lighten my mood, I turn to music. When I meet someone for the first time, I ask him or her about music. Music has been a huge part of my life. Music makes the world a little more interesting. It helps your thoughts and imagination to be more creative.

If I could choose where to go, I would go to the theatre. It’s great to go there with friends or even on your own as the audience becomes part of the experience of the theatre. On stage everyday things turn out to be magnificent. They evoke visions of other countries and cultures, the past and the future. What a pleasure to enjoy the acting of a good cast! Encouraging children and young people to go to the theatre opens up a new world to them and they may take an interest in drama at school.
