- This is a very general title. You can specify it showing the influence of the geographical position of a country on one of the spheres of life, for example:
- People’s activities
- Food
- National (regional) symbols
- Houses around the world
- Collect information and illustrations.
- Present your project to the classmates. Answer their questions to explain your ideas.
PROJECT “The Best of All Possible Worlds”
This project may be done in any of the following forms: a leaflet, a poster, a collage, an advertisement, etc.
- Show the advantages of a place you consider the best of all possible worlds. Illustrate your ideas. Use humour, fantasy and imagination.
- Tell your classmates why you’d like to live in this place. Answer the questions to explain your ideas.
PROJECT “Welcome to Russia!”
This project may be done in the form of a guide for tourists.
- Choose a region in your country, describe its geographical peculiarities.
- Give some tips for foreigners how to cope with weather conditions in this region.
- Describe the people of this region and their customs.
- Collect illustrations.
- Present your project to the classmates. Answer their questions to explain your ideas.

Welcome to the Republic of Karelia!
Karelia is a beautiful region in the north-west of Russia. It is famous for its forests, lakes and clean air. The climate here is rather cold, so in winter people wear warm clothes, hats, gloves and boots. In summer the weather is usually cool and pleasant.
The people of Karelia are friendly, hardworking and hospitable. They respect nature and traditions. Many local customs are connected with fishing, hunting and life in the forest.
If you visit Karelia, you can see amazing landscapes, old wooden churches and beautiful islands. It is a wonderful place for tourists who like nature and quiet rest.
Tips for foreigners: take warm clothes, comfortable shoes and a raincoat. In winter be ready for snow and frost, and in summer don’t forget mosquito repellent.
