2. The situation determines the language you use because you should choose the right style: neutral, informal or formal. With friends you can speak informally, with teachers and adults you should be more polite and formal.

3. Possible reasons:

  • I’m tired.
  • I have a lot of homework.
  • I don’t like that kind of food.
  • I’m not interested in museums.
  • I have to help my parents.
  • I’m not feeling well.

4. Acceptable phrases:

  • With a friend: I don’t really fancy visiting museums.
  • With a teacher: If I could explain, my parents don’t want me to visit clubs.
  • With a colleague of your parent: Well, I think I’d prefer to go to a dance club.

5. Possible answers:

  • to go to the art gallery: I’d rather not, actually. I’m not really interested in art.
  • to try a new dish: I don’t really fancy it. I’m afraid I don’t like this kind of food.
  • to do a project: I wish I could, but I’m very busy today.
  • to come to school on Sunday: I’m afraid I can’t possibly come because it’s my day off.

6. Possible dialogues:

  • b) Student 1: I can sell you this watch cheaper than in a shop.
    Student 2: I’m not really willing to buy it. I don’t need a watch now.
  • c) Student 1: Could you carry this bag through customs on board the plane? Someone will meet it on arrival.
    Student 2: I’m afraid I can’t possibly do that. It’s not allowed.
  • d) Student 1: Could you exchange some money for me?
    Student 2: I’d like to, but I don’t have enough money with me.
  • e) Student 1: Would you like to try this drug?
    Student 2: No, thank you. I’m not really willing to take it because I don’t know what it is.

7. Possible answers:

  • a) Let’s visit a museum. It’s very interesting and you can learn a lot about our history.
  • b) Would you like to try some national dish? It’s delicious and very popular here.
  • c) Let’s buy a souvenir. It will remind you of your visit to our place.
