Задача

Приведем выдержку из задания из учебника Кузовлев 10-11 класс, Просвещение: 2. Dating etiquette today is quite different from that when your parents were young. 1) Which information refers to the present and which describes dating customs which were common among teenagers 30 years ago? Put the verbs in brackets in the correct form, (reading for detail/anticipating grammatical structures) Dating in the 19..s was very structured. The dating rules were firmly established. Boys and girls usually began dating in high school. Of course, they (need) _their parents’ permission. Many teen- agers were even chaperoned (accompanied by parents). The young people observed curfews and said goodnight at the front door. In the 19..s dating is far more casual. Children begin dating in junior high school, and many youngsters have steady girlfriends or boyfriends. The younger couples may be escorted by their parents, but as soon as they are in high school, couples rebel at the idea of being chaperoned. Dutch treat dating is acceptable and because of the teens’ limited finances, it occurs quite frequently. Girls call boys and ask for dates. They even pay for dates. 1) In the 19..s, teenagers needed their parents’ permission. This describes the past.

Today, teenagers have more independence in all aspects of dating. This describes the present.

2) Yes, I do. Today’s teenagers exercise more freedom in dating than teenagers of the seventies. They can begin dating earlier, girls can call boys and ask for dates, and they may even pay for dates themselves. Also, curfews are observed only in a few families, so teenagers have more independence now.
