Задача

In Tess’s and Sandra’s words, find the sentences with the verbs get and become as link verbs and translate them. Use GS, p. 218.
Complete the sentences with suitable words in brackets in the correct form. More than one variant is possible.

2) We … (be/get) so excited because we’re going to participate at the opening ceremony of the Nationals.
3) It’s time to begin the football match. … (become/get) ready quickly!

1) get and become as link verbs:

We are getting more and more excited. — Мы всё больше и больше волнуемся.
She became famous after winning the championship. — Она стала знаменитой после победы в чемпионате.

2) Complete the sentences:

We start getting more and more excited on the eve of the championship.
We are so excited because we’re going to participate in the opening ceremony of the Nationals.
It’s time to begin the football match. Get ready quickly!
Now we are ready for a football match.
My friend started to become recognised after winning the championship.

Explanation: after start we use getting or to become; in states we use be; with an order we use the imperative Get ready.
