I think the welfare state is very important because it helps people who need support. For example, pensions help old people live more comfortably, and unemployment benefits can support people when they lose their jobs. Free or cheap medical care is also useful because not everyone can pay for treatment.

At the same time, I think the welfare state should not make people lazy. Some people may depend too much on benefits instead of trying to work. So I partly agree with the idea of the welfare state: it is necessary, but it should be fair and well organized.
