I was shocked to read that many teenagers have drinking problems, some American children run away from home every day, and some children die in America every day.
Young people sometimes break the law by drinking alcohol, taking drugs, stealing, fighting, or running away from home. It causes family problems, violence, aggressiveness, cruelty, drug addiction, and school problems.
In all these cases, I think the rights to protection, care, education, and a safe life are ignored. According to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, every child has the right to be protected from harm, to live in a family environment, and to develop properly.
In my country, mass media usually show teenagers as active, modern, and ambitious, but they also often report about school problems, bad habits, and conflicts with parents.
Young people in my country worry about their future, education, money, relationships, and the chance to be independent. In my opinion, these problems are serious and important. Teenagers themselves, parents, adults, schools, and the Government can help. Teenagers should think about their future and avoid bad habits. Adults should care about teenagers, talk to them, and help them overcome difficulties.
