GROUP WORK
All systems of medical care have both advantages and disadvantages. Exchange your opinions on the matter.
- Group 1. Try to convince your partners that there are a lot of disadvantages in health care systems of your country, Great Britain, and the USA.
- Group 2. Say that you partly agree, but in spite of all these disadvantages there are some advantages, too.
Group 1: I think there are a lot of disadvantages in the health care systems of our country, Great Britain and the USA. First of all, medical services can be very expensive, especially in the USA. In some cases people have to wait a long time to see a doctor or get treatment. Another problem is that not everyone can get high-quality medical help quickly. Sometimes hospitals are overcrowded, and doctors are too busy. So, in my opinion, health care systems have many serious problems.
Group 2: I partly agree, but I think there are some advantages, too. In many countries people can get qualified medical help from well-trained doctors. Modern hospitals have good equipment, and many diseases can be treated successfully. In Great Britain and in some other countries, people can receive free or cheap medical care. So, although there are disadvantages, health care systems also have important advantages.
