- missing the classes.
Pupil

Sample role-play
a) Teacher — Parent
Teacher: I’d like to talk about your child’s progress. Unfortunately, his/her marks are rather bad. We also had a recent argument about wearing earrings and make-up to school. Besides, he/she has missed five classes in my subject.
Parent: I’m sorry to hear that. I’ll talk to my child about the marks and the missed classes. As for the earrings and make-up, I understand the school rules and will make sure they are followed.
b) Parent — Pupil
Parent: Your teacher complained about your bad marks, the argument about wearing earrings and make-up to school, and the five classes you missed.
Pupil: I understand. I’m sorry for my behaviour. I’ll try to improve my marks, attend all classes, and follow the school rules.
