IV. SPEAKING
- You are considering spending summer holidays at the camp “Olympia” and you’d like to get more information. In 1.5 minutes you are to ask 5 questions to find out the following:
- length of stay;
- accommodation;
- language requirements;
- if indoor activities are available;
- price.
You have 20 seconds to ask each question.
- Imagine that these are photos from your photo album (p. 157). Choose one photo to describe to your friend. You will have to start speaking in 1.5 minutes and will speak for not more than 2 minutes (12–15 sentences). In your talk remember to speak about:
- where and when the photo was taken;
- what/who is in the photo;
- what is happening;
- why you keep the photo in your album;
- why you decided to show the photo to your friend.
You have to talk continuously starting with: “I’ve chosen …”.

1. Questions to ask about the camp “Olympia”:
- How long can I stay at the camp?
- What kind of accommodation do you offer?
- Do I need to know any foreign languages?
- Are there any indoor activities available?
- How much does it cost?
2. Sample answer:
I’ve chosen the photo with my friends at the summer camp. It was taken last July in the countryside. In the photo, you can see three of my friends and me. We are sitting near a lake and smiling at the camera. It was a warm and sunny day, so we were spending a lot of time outdoors. We had just finished a game and were resting for a while. I keep this photo in my album because it reminds me of a happy summer holiday. It is one of my favourite photos because it brings back good memories. I decided to show it to you because I know you like photos about travel and friendship. Also, I wanted to share this cheerful moment with you.
