- You are considering taking part in the Amazon Expedition Programme. You’d like to get more information about it. In 1.5 minutes you are to ask 5 direct questions to find out the following: time of the expedition; cost; age range; if vaccinations are required; if special training is needed. You have 20 seconds to ask each question.
- Study the two photos on p. 24. In 1.5 minutes be ready to compare and contrast them: give a brief description of the photos (action, location); say what the photos have in common; say in what way the photos are different; say which activity presented in the photos you’d prefer; explain why. You will speak for not more than 2 minutes (12—15 sentences). You have to talk continuously.

The first photo shows a group of people travelling through the Amazon rainforest by boat. They are probably on an expedition. The second photo shows people walking in the forest with backpacks, so they seem to be hiking or exploring the area on foot.
Both photos are about adventure in the Amazon and show people in nature. In both pictures, the participants are active and seem to be enjoying an unusual experience. However, the first activity is on water, while the second one is on land. The people in the first photo are using a boat, but in the second photo they are walking through the jungle.
I would prefer the second activity, because I like hiking and I think it is a great way to see nature closely. It also looks more exciting and challenging. Besides, walking in the forest gives you a chance to feel the atmosphere of the Amazon better.
