1. R. L. Stevenson had a weak health in childhood, but he was a lively and imaginative boy.
2. He tried to find adventure, freedom and happiness in life.
3. We can say that his dream really came true because he became a famous writer and travelled a lot.
4. His father saw his son’s future career as a practical one, connected with engineering or law. Robert, however, wanted to become a writer.
5. Thomas Stevenson let his son begin his writing career and travel because Robert was determined to write, but only on the condition that he would first get a proper education and have a serious profession.
6. Famous books by R. L. Stevenson are Treasure Island, Kidnapped, Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde and Black Arrow. I have read Treasure Island. It is an exciting adventure novel about pirates and treasure. His books are still read with interest in the 21st century because they are full of adventure, strong characters and a fascinating plot.
7. R. L. Stevenson moved to America for his health. There he lived in California and later in the South Seas; his life there was difficult, but it gave him new impressions and helped him continue writing.
8. The happiest period of his life was the time he spent in the South Seas, especially in Samoa.
9. He died in Samoa and was buried on Mount Vaea.
