Islam is one of the world’s major religions. Its followers are called Muslims. The holy book of Islam is the Quran. Muslims believe in one God, Allah, and in the prophet Muhammad. The main places of worship are mosques. One of the most important duties in Islam is to pray five times a day. Many Muslims also fast during Ramadan and try to help other people.

Islam began in Arabia in the 7th century and later spread to many countries in Asia, Africa and Europe. Today it is one of the largest religions in the world. Muslims have special traditions, holidays and rules of behaviour, which are very important in their daily life.
