It is not always worth giving people advice that can change their whole life. Advice can be helpful, but it should never force our own likes, dislikes, or beliefs on other people.
We are justified in giving advice when a person asks for it, when we really care about them, or when they are in a difficult situation and may need support. In such cases, advice can help them avoid mistakes.
However, we cannot be completely sure that we know other people as well as we know ourselves. In fact, we often do not know ourselves very well either. That is why advice should be given carefully and respectfully.
The metaphor about a prisoner in a solitary tower is a good one. It shows that people do not always understand each other fully, because everyone has their own thoughts, feelings, and experience. We can only guess what others really mean.
It is risky to put your future and fortune into somebody else’s hands. It is better to listen to advice, but make your own decision in the end.
I have followed my parents’ advice and the advice of people I trust. Usually, it has helped me make better choices and avoid problems.
