A traditional English church is usually simpler and more modest than an Orthodox church. Inside it often has plain walls, wooden benches, an altar and stained-glass windows, but there are usually no icons, iconostasis or many candles. Outside it may look like a simple stone building with a tower or a spire.

An Orthodox church is usually more richly decorated both inside and outside. It often has domes, crosses and many icons, and the inside is full of paintings, candles and a decorated iconostasis.

A mosque is different too. It usually has a dome and a minaret outside. Inside there are no benches or chairs, no icons or statues, and people pray on carpets. The decoration is often based on patterns and Arabic writing.
