I agree with Shakespeare’s idea that men are, to some extent, masters of their fate. Our choices, efforts and decisions often influence our future. If a person works hard and makes responsible decisions, he or she can change life for the better.

I also agree with William Blake that life is not the same for everybody. Some people are born into difficult conditions, while others are born into comfortable and happy ones. We cannot choose the circumstances of our birth.

At the same time, I disagree with Robert Herrick’s quotation if it means that a person has no control over life at all. Of course, some events are beyond our power, but many things depend on us. So I think fate is partly given to us, but partly made by ourselves.
