Dear Tom,

Thanks for your letter. It’s always nice to hear from you.

In summer I usually spend my holidays at the seaside or in the countryside with my family. If I won a trip abroad, I would like to visit Italy. I’d love to see Rome, the Colosseum and the museums there. I think I would get there by plane because it is the fastest and most comfortable way.

As for your sister, I’m glad to hear she is getting married. What is her name? When is the wedding exactly? Are you going to help her with the preparations?

Write back soon.

Best wishes,
Alex

Some people believe that there are no bad students, only bad teachers. I partly agree with this statement, but I do not think it is completely true.

On the one hand, a good teacher can make lessons interesting, explain difficult things clearly and encourage students to work harder. Such teachers usually help children believe in themselves and achieve better results. If a student is lazy or unmotivated, a skilled teacher can often change the situation.

However, students are also responsible for their own learning. Even the best teacher cannot force a person to study if he or she does not want to. Some students are careless, do not do homework and never try to improve. In this case, the problem is not only the teacher.

I do not agree with the opposing opinion because learning depends on both sides. Teachers can guide and support students, but students must also be active and disciplined.

To conclude, I believe that both teachers and students influence school success, so it is unfair to blame only teachers for bad results.
