2. Try to answer the questions in the text. Listen and check.
   • Что такое тропические леса?
   • Почему они так важны?
   • Что там растет?
   • Почему они в опасности?
   • Что мы можем сделать, чтобы спасти их?

Possible answers:

1. Rainforests are large forests near the Equator, full of tropical plants and trees.
2. They are important because they clean and renew the air and provide a home for thousands of species of animals and plants.
3. Many rare and unusual trees and plants grow there. Cocoa, bananas, coffee, pepper and other useful plants also come from rainforests.
4. They are in danger because people are cutting down the trees for fuel, building materials and to make way for houses, factories and roads.
5. We can save rainforests by supporting environmental organisations, writing to politicians and refusing to buy furniture made from rainforest wood.
