The Amur leopard is a rare wild cat and one of the most endangered species in Russia. It lives in the forests of the Russian Far East, especially in Primorye, where there are mountains, mixed forests and enough prey.

The main threats to the Amur leopard are poaching, forest fires, loss of habitat and a lack of food. Because of these dangers, its population became very small.

To protect this species, special nature reserves have been created, hunting is forbidden, and scientists monitor the leopards carefully. Conservation programmes also help increase the number of animals.

Today, the Amur leopard is still endangered, but people are taking action to save it.
