Sources of Energy Used to Make Electricity in Russia

In Russia, electricity is produced from different sources of energy. The main source is natural gas. It is widely used because it is efficient and relatively clean.

Coal is also used, especially in some industrial regions. However, it causes more pollution than gas.

Hydroelectric power is another important source. Russia has many rivers, so water power is used in several large power stations.

Nuclear energy plays a significant role too. Nuclear power stations produce a lot of electricity and do not release carbon dioxide during operation.

Oil is used less often for electricity production, but it still remains one of the energy sources in some areas.

In recent years, renewable energy sources such as wind and solar power have started to develop, but they are still not as common as gas, coal, water, and nuclear energy.
