• If each swept before his own door, we should have a clean city.
• If wishes were horses, beggars would ride.
B. Think of a situation in which you would be able to use one of the proverbs above and speak about it.

Two proverbs mean the same:
If “ifs” and “ans” were pots and pans… and If wishes were horses, beggars would ride.
Both proverbs say that it is useless to dream about impossible things or to talk too much about “if only”.
Example situation: If my friend keeps saying, “If I had more money, I would travel the world,” I can answer: If wishes were horses, beggars would ride.
