A: As far as I understand, our systems of education have much is common.
B: It’s true. Take the number of years we spend at school.

A: As far as I understand, our systems of education have much in common.

B: It’s true. Take the number of years we spend at school.

A: In Russia children usually spend 11 years at school, and in the UK they study for 11 years too.

B: Yes, that’s right. But there are some differences as well. For example, in Britain children start school at the age of 5, while in Russia they usually start at 6 or 7.

A: Another difference is that Russian pupils have a more centralised system of education, while British schools can be state or private.

B: I agree. Also, in the UK pupils take GCSE exams at 16 and then may continue their education at college or sixth form.

A: In Russia, after the 9th form pupils can choose to continue at school or go to a college.

B: So, although our systems are different, both of them give students a good education.
