There are many opinions about what is more important in our life: books, music, cinema or universal values. I would like to comment on the statement that cinema is more important nowadays than theatre.

In my opinion, cinema is indeed more important for modern people. First of all, it is much more accessible: films can be watched at home, on a computer or even on a phone. Secondly, cinema is a powerful means of entertainment and education because it combines images, sound and a story. Finally, films often reflect important social problems and help people understand the world better.

However, some people believe that theatre is more valuable because it is a live performance. They say that actors on the stage create a special atmosphere, and every performance is unique. Theatre also helps people feel real emotions more strongly.

I cannot fully agree with this opinion. Although theatre is wonderful, it is not as convenient and popular as cinema today. Most people do not have enough time to go to the theatre regularly, while films are easy to watch at any moment. That is why cinema reaches a much larger audience.

To sum up, I think that cinema is more important nowadays than theatre because it is more available, modern and influential.

Thanks for your letter. I’m glad you are fond of heavy metal. As for me, I listen to music quite often too. I prefer pop music and sometimes rock. My favourite musicians are Ed Sheeran and Adele because their songs are beautiful and emotional.

I think my total result is quite good, but it can be better. It depends on how carefully I do my written tasks, how much vocabulary I know and how well I remember grammar rules.

Another important point is that people understand the word “culture” in different ways. For some, it means art and literature; for others, it means the whole way of life. Still, there are universal values such as kindness, honesty and respect.

Visual arts, music, literature and cinema are also essential parts of culture. They help us learn about other countries and understand people better. In my opinion, culture makes the world richer and more interesting.
