3 Read the text given below. If necessary, transform the words in brackets to make them match grammatically with the contents of the texts. Complete the gaps with transformed words. Each gap corresponds with a separate task from group 1-7.
Homelessness
I used to think that homelessness meant tramps 1) sleeping rough on the streets. However, recently my family and l 2) were forced to leave our rented flat because the owner wanted to live in it himself.
We 3) applied to the council for a flat immediately. That was six months ago and since then the four of 4) us have lived in one room in a hotel. We are still waiting for a council flat.
If both of us had been working, we 5) would have rented another flat privately. However, my husband earns the minimum wage and I am not working at the moment.
Now that this 6) has happened to us. I realise that many other families are in a similar situation. It can be stressful living in such conditions.
I am confident that it 7) won’t be long before the council find flat for us. In the meantime, we try to make the best of the situation.

3) applied — Past Simple, так как действие произошло в прошлом.

4) us — после the four of употребляется объектное местоимение.

6) has — Present Perfect, потому что речь о событии, которое уже повлияло на настоящее.

7) won’t be — после won’t be long before используется форма будущего времени.
