On that day, I was at home. I had demonstrated my invention on the BBC two days earlier and I was still hoping that someone would be interested in it. Then Chris Stains came to see me. He listened carefully as I explained how my wind-up radio worked. At first, he was surprised, but very soon he became excited and asked me lots of questions. He liked the idea and understood that it could help many people, especially in places without electricity. I felt nervous at first, but then I was delighted and proud because he reacted so positively. It was a very important day for me, because I realised that my invention had a real future.
