Clouds

Clouds are made of tiny water droplets or ice crystals floating in the sky. They form when warm, moist air rises, cools down, and the water vapour condenses.

There are several main types of clouds:

• Cumulus — white, fluffy clouds with flat bottoms. They often mean fair weather.
• Stratus — low, grey clouds that can cover the whole sky and bring drizzle.
• Cirrus — thin, wispy clouds high in the sky. They are made of ice crystals.
• Cumulonimbus — tall, dark clouds that can bring heavy rain, thunder, and lightning.

Clouds are important because they help control the Earth’s temperature and bring precipitation such as rain or snow.
