Here is a short project about plant life in Russia.
Russia has a very rich and diverse plant life because it is the largest country in the world and has many different climate zones. In the north, there are mosses, lichens and coniferous trees such as pine, spruce and fir. In the south, you can find steppe grasses, wild flowers and fruit trees. Some plants grow only in Russia, for example the Siberian pine and the Amur cork tree.
Many plants are used in everyday life. Birch is important in Russian culture: its wood is used for furniture and paper, and birch sap is a traditional drink. Herbs and berries are also widely used in food and medicine. Chamomile, mint, cranberries and lingonberries are popular in Russian homes.
Plants are also important in Russian traditions. Birch branches are used in some folk festivals, and flowers often appear in national ornaments and embroidery. In Russian cuisine, berries, mushrooms and herbs are common ingredients.
Unfortunately, some plants are under threat because of pollution, logging and climate change. Rare species are protected in nature reserves and national parks. The Red Data Book of Russia lists endangered plants, and special programs help to save them.
In conclusion, plants are an important part of Russia’s nature, culture and daily life, so they must be protected.
