Some people say that they definitely prefer written exams. Others insist that only oral examination can give a student an opportunity to demonstrate how smart and creative he or she is. Both sides have their points. Speaking for myself, I prefer written exams because they are usually more objective and fair. In a written exam, I have time to think over my answers carefully and check them before handing in the paper. Besides, I am not very nervous when I write, while in an oral exam I may forget even the things I know well. However, oral exams also have advantages: they help students develop speaking skills and think quickly. So, both types of exams are useful, but I would choose written ones.
