Essay

Nowadays cloning is one of the most controversial scientific issues. Some people think that it can bring great benefits to mankind, while others believe that it is dangerous and morally unacceptable. In my opinion, cloning should be strictly controlled and used only for medical purposes, not for creating copies of people.

First of all, cloning may help save lives. Scientists could clone organs or tissues for people who need transplants, and this would reduce the problem of donor shortage. In addition, cloning animals may be useful in medicine and agriculture, because it can help preserve rare species and improve food production.

However, there are serious arguments against cloning humans. Many people are afraid that cloned individuals would not be treated as full human beings. Besides, cloning may lead to ethical problems, because nobody has the right to “create” a person for a certain purpose. There is also a risk of mistakes in experiments, and this can cause suffering.

I do not agree with those who want to use cloning for making human copies. Science should serve people, but it must not destroy moral values. To my mind, cloning can be acceptable only when it helps cure diseases and save lives.

In conclusion, cloning is a powerful technology with both advantages and dangers. It should be used carefully and responsibly, especially in medicine, but human cloning should remain forbidden.
