Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein is a classic story about a man-made monster who wants to find his place in society despite his ugly appearance and unusual origin.

Victor Frankenstein is a scientist who creates an artificial human being from spare body parts. But the monster turns out to be extremely ugly and frightening. He tries to find friendship, but is rejected several times, so he decides to take revenge on the scientist who created him.

First, the monster kills Victor’s brother. Frankenstein feels guilty for creating the monster, so he goes away to the mountains alone to find peace of mind. But instead, he is chased by the monster, who demands that Victor create a female monster to be his companion. Victor agrees because he is afraid for his family and goes to England to do the work.

He almost finishes it, but suddenly changes his mind and destroys his creation. Then the monster kills Victor’s friend and his wife Elizabeth.

Victor realises that he must find the monster and kill him. He chases him across Europe and to the North Pole, but loses track of him when the monster disappears into a crack in the ice. There Victor meets Captain Robert Walton and his crew.

In the end, Victor dies, and the monster cries for forgiveness. After a short stay with Robert Walton, who had promised to kill him, the monster convinces him not to do this and disappears back to the North Pole. Nobody has seen him again.
