Chemistry is involved in many industries and occupations. It is used in medicine, pharmacy, manufacturing, food production, building, and the production of home materials. Chemists, doctors, pharmacists, engineers, and technologists all work with chemical substances.
At home, chemistry is also important when we cook, wash, clean, and eat. For example, we use baking powder, washing powder, food colouring, and food preservatives. We also need chemistry to understand product labels, avoid dangerous mixtures, and use medicines correctly.
Chemistry is everywhere because chemical reactions happen in nature, in our bodies, and in everyday life. Plants convert carbon dioxide into oxygen, food is digested with the help of stomach acid, and many products such as cheese, yogurt, and bread are made thanks to chemical processes.
