Comment on the following statement: If I could choose, I would live in a big modern city. What is your opinion? Why do many people choose big cities but some try to escape to the country? Write up to 200 words. Use the following plan:
- Make an introduction (state the problem).
- Express your personal opinion and give 2–3 reasons for your opinion.
- Express an opposing opinion and give 1–2 reasons for this opposing opinion.
- Explain why you don’t agree with the opposing opinion.
- Make a conclusion restating your position.
Nowadays many people dream of living in a big modern city, while others prefer a quiet life in the countryside. This problem is worth discussing.
In my opinion, living in a big city is more attractive. First, there are more job and study opportunities there. Second, cities usually offer better transport, entertainment and shopping facilities. Third, it is easier to meet new people and lead an active life.
However, some people choose the country because it is peaceful and clean. They enjoy fresh air, less noise and a slower pace of life. Besides, life in the countryside is often less stressful.
I do not fully agree with this opinion. Although country life has its advantages, it can be boring for young people. Also, there are fewer schools, hospitals and cultural places there.
To sum up, I would prefer to live in a big modern city because it gives more chances for work, education and an interesting life.
