Work in groups. Think of examples of borrowings in your language. Where do they come from? How often are they used? How do you feel about them?

Here are some examples of borrowings in my language.

• Computer — from English. It is used very often because modern life is connected with technology.
• Internet — from English. This word is used every day by young people and adults.
• Pizza — from Italian. It is a very common word and a popular dish.
• Taxi — from French. It is used quite often in everyday speech.

I think borrowings are useful because they help us name new things and ideas. However, too many foreign words can make language less clear, so it is better to use them carefully.
