Read the texts A, B and C. Say which of them describes what is most likely to happen in the nearest future.
A I think that in the future roads will become so busy that we won’t be able to use cars anymore, and I think we will have to have better forms of public transport.
B I can imagine there will be houses in which everything is controlled by computer, like the heating, the fridge, the oven. No doubt you’ll be able to control these functions from your own Internet site so if you are at work, you’ll be able to start cooking your dinner simply by connecting your oven to the Internet.
C I firmly believe that information technology will continue to bring out development in the next century. I think there will be more than 100 computers per person, mostly combined with other devices, each of them a million times more powerful than today’s computers, and all of them connected in a network.
Text B describes what is most likely to happen in the nearest future, because it talks about smart houses and controlling home appliances by computer and the Internet — something that can happen soon.
