Упр.22 Unit 4 ГДЗ Enjoy English 11 класс

Задача
  1. Work in groups. You are consultants who have been hired by the government to investigate the history and geography of the city / village. You are to report on what significant information the government, planners, and inhabitants should take into consideration when planning for future developments. Follow these steps.

    a) Conduct internet and / or library research on the places you all live. Look for information based on the following questions:

    • What is the climate like?
    • What is the natural landscape like?
    • What is the population of this place today, and how rapidly is it growing?
    • What natural or human-made disasters is this place particularly susceptible to (earthquakes, oil spills, technological accidents, etc.)?
    • What are some of the significant environmental problems facing this place today?
    • What events have had a significant impact on its history (e.g., an earthquake or fire, an economic depression, etc.)?
    • What specific information about your place’s geography and history would you find particularly important and helpful to know about?

    b) Compile your research into reports that address the questions above. Don’t forget to include references to specific past or present conditions and events that might be valuable for people to know about when planning for the future.

    c) Hold a class discussion about what you have learned about where you all live. Present brief summaries explaining the patterns you see over time. Your summaries should answer the following questions:

    • What, in general, has been going on where you live (e.g., population increase, environmental changes, etc.)?
    • What specific changes have been noticeable over the years?
    • What trends seem like they might continue in the future?
Подробный ответ

Here is a sample report and summary for the task.

Report

Our city has a temperate climate with cold winters and warm summers. The natural landscape includes rivers, parks, forests, and flat areas suitable for building and transport. Today the population is growing steadily, especially in the suburbs.

The city is not usually affected by earthquakes, but it can suffer from floods, heavy snowfalls, traffic accidents, and industrial pollution. One of the main environmental problems is air pollution caused by cars and factories. Another problem is the reduction of green areas because of new construction.

Several important events have influenced the city’s history, including industrial development, wartime destruction, and rapid rebuilding in the postwar period. These events changed the city’s appearance and economy.

The most useful information for future planning is the climate, the risk of flooding, the condition of the environment, and the history of urban development. This information can help planners make the city safer and more comfortable for people.

Summary

In general, the population has been increasing, and the city has been developing quickly. Over the years, more houses, roads, and public buildings have appeared, while some natural areas have disappeared. Environmental conditions have also changed, especially because of transport and construction.

These trends are likely to continue in the future, so it will be important to protect the environment, improve public transport, and preserve green spaces.
