Упр.48 Unit 4 ГДЗ Enjoy English 11 класс

Задача

Read these quotations and comment on them. Which ones make the most sense to you? Which don’t? Why?

“Friendship is composed of a single soul inhabiting two bodies.” Aristotle (BC 384–322), Greek philosopher

“A cheerful friend is like a sunny day spreading brightness all around.” John Lubbock, English astronomer

“Tell me what company you keep, and I’ll tell thee what you are.” Miguel de Cervantes (1547–1616), Spanish novelist

“My best friend is the one who brings out the best in me.” Henry Ford

“Should auld acquaintance be forgot, And never brought to mind?” Robert Burns (1759–96), Scottish poet

“A true friend is someone who thinks that you are a good egg even though he knows that you are slightly cracked.” Bernard Meltzer

Подробный ответ

To me, the most sensible quotations are the ones by Aristotle, Henry Ford and Bernard Meltzer. They all say that a real friend understands you, supports you and helps you become a better person.

I also like John Lubcock’s quotation because a cheerful friend really can make life brighter and happier.

The quotation by Cervantes makes sense too: the people around us influence our character and behaviour.

The quotation by Robert Burns is beautiful, but it is more poetic than practical. It is about remembering old friends and valuing the past, so it is not as clear and direct as the others.
